Crazy
Quilt - Candia, New Hampshire
Barbara
Boyd was another new participant at our 2009 Lupine Festival and she's returning
this year on Saturdays only. She's a member of the Rockingham Craftsmen
and brought her eggshell ornaments last year as well as some quilt art. Her eggshells
are reinforced, cut, with a scene inside. If you click on this link to the Rockingham
Craftsmen blogsite you can see some of these lovely ornaments. I found that
if you clicked on the photos you could see the eggshell ornaments a bit more clearly.
Last year she sold them quite quickly so you wan to check her booth out early
to see all of the different designs! Barbara's
other talent is Victorian Crazy Quilting. She has pillows, vests, stockings, and
angels. E-mail
her for more information. |

Cutting
Edge Designs - St. Johnsbury, Vermont
Bill
& Tari Trainer were were new to the Lupine Festival last year and will be
returning for both weekends this year. They are bringing over cutting boards,
cheese boards, and rolling pins. Quality that you have to see in person, because
the photos don't do it justice. Of course, don't forget that if you buy a cheese
board . . . Harman's has some great cheese to go with it. This past winter, Bill
made some wonderful cheese mouse boards for us. We carry a few of Bill's boards
all year round in Harman's store. For more information, you can visit Bill's new
website, Cuttingedgedesignsvermont.com
or you may order Bill's wonderful cheese boards through Harman's
On-Line Store. You can also stop by his tent and remind him to keep his fingers
out of his saws! |

Lance
Roberts - Lunenburg, Vermont
Lane
is also very busy this summer and can't make the Lupine Festival but you can find
him at Farmers' Markets all summer: Littleton, Bethlehem, and Lunenburg, Vermont.
He hand carves wooden bowls and spoons. He also makes chairs and baskets. I found
a few minutes during the Lupine Festival to watch Lance at work. It is amazing,
in just a few minutes you can see the bowl actually starting to emerge from the
split log. It's worth your time to spend a few minutes with Lance and his wife,
Ginny.

Watson
Pottery and Glass Newport, Vermont
John and Ann Watson combined their gifts into a fine craft business that is scheduled
at so many craft shows and farmer's markets that we are thrilled they have found
time to come to the Lupine Festival again this year and will be here for both
weekends. Ann's
pottery is all hand-thrown, fired, and glazed. Her pottery pieces are unique but
fully functional as they are lead-free and dishwasher safe. She makes kitchen
ware, dinnerware, flowerpots, candleholders, and tealight holders with John's
glass beads. John's
specialty is flameworked beads. John lays molten glass onto rods to form a bead
using an oxygen/propane torch. The beads are designed into beautiful jewelry pieces.
Check out their website
for a closer look at their art and a glimpse at their busy schedule: www.home.earthlink.net/~clay2glass/index.html
You can reach them by e-mail at clay2glass@comcast.net |

 Ink
Drawings by
Gene Matras Pittsfield, New Hampshire Gene Matras is an artist
whose pen and ink drawings have been winning awards for over twenty years. Matras
was born in Poland and emigrated in 1960 with his parents and brothers to New
Hampshire. Today he lives with his wife and five children on their homestead in
Pittsfield. His forested surroundings inspire much of his work. Travels throughout
New England provide the source of many of his subjects - trees, mountains, wildlife,
and rural life. Matras' prints are produced from the original by an offset lithography
process in limited editions, numbered and signed by the artist. His ink drawings
are farm scenes, wildlife, and rural landscapes. The framed and unframed prints
range in price from $15 to $250. This is his first year at the Lupine Festival,
we hope you make him feel welcome. Look for him on June 12-13 only. You can also
check out his work at his website: www.GeneMatras.com

Littleton
Raccoons 4-H Club Littleton, New Hampshire
The
Littleton Raccoons 4-H Club will be at the market on Saturday, June 13th as a
luncheon vendor. Stop by to support the club (have a hot dog) and learn more about
4-H. They'll also have 4-H cookies for sale (not as famous as Girl Scout Cookies
but tasty). The
4-H emblem, a clover bearing an "H" on each of its four leaves, represents the
characteristics each club member develops: head, heart, hands, and health. Head
involves thinking, making decisions, and learning new things, while heart entails
caring about other people, accepting responsibility, and developing values. Hands
symbolize the effort to acquire and perfect new skills and to help others. Health
involves protecting the well-being of yourself and others.
