The Adair Inn is one of our favorite booths at the festival! Tasty,
too!
They bring
iced tea samples of NH's own Portsmouth Tea Blends. Their new chef, Orlo Coots
will be preparing tidbits of his menu for you to sample at the booth. The samples
are all free! They come to the festival to share a bit of their Restaurant and
Inn with all of us. They will be selling raffle tickets for a gift certificate
to the Inn (Ilja and Brad usually have a competition as to who can sell the most
. . . so buy from the person you want to win the competition). They will only
be at the market on Saturdays. On Saturday, June 12th - they'll bring Chicken
Adair and cookies for you to sample. On Saturday, June 19th - It's lamb with roasted
garlic, goat cheese bread pudding, and cookies. And on Tuesday, June 8th you
can sample their dessert offerings of Baklava & Truffles at the Swing
'n Sweets Concert and on Sunday, June 13th, you will find them at the Taste
of the North Country in Littleton with Yellow Tomato Soup with garden chives and
truffle oil and for dessert, Maple Marscapone Bread Pudding with walnut rum creme
anglaise.
Innkeepers,
Ilja & Brad Chad, open the Inn and gardens every day of the Festival for a
historic tour and refreshments from Noon to 4 pm. It's free with your Lupine Festival
Tour Book. Don't miss the chance to explore their beautiful grounds (The Budweiser
Clydesdale chose it as the backdrop for their photography shoot). Also If you
choose to enjoy a meal at the Adair during the Festival, take your tour book with
you and receive a free appetizer with dinner. They
also host some unique Lupine Events on Sundays: June 6th: Learn to make
Chocolate Truffles with Chef Orlo
June 13th: The Yesteryear Garden Slideshow (1933). June 20th: Whisky (&
Cheese) Seminar All events are free with your Lupine Festival
Tour Book. Also on June 20th, they offer a Father's Day BBQ Brunch Buffet with
live music.
Visit
www.adairinn.com
to learn more about this intimate Inn and their restaurant. All year round, they
host wonderful events that are open to the public, if you don't get there during
the Lupine Festival - plan to visit another time. During the winter, ask about
their moonlight snowshoe tours - anyone can join them. My family had a great time
on the snowshoe tour.

Arnold
and Sons Woodworking - Raymond, New Hampshire This
NH-Made family business takes fallen trees and some bought wood and "turn"
them into useful items. Three generations of Arnolds - but the twist here is that
the youngest generation is the one that "started" the business. Andrew
Arnold learned wood-turning from a local woodturner. His father, Rick, became
fascinated by what his son was doing, so he learned the craft . . . and then his
father, Dick Sr., decided to learn, too.
They enjoy taking a fallen tree and turning it into pieces that
are not only functional but look good too. The three enjoy the challenge of making
new things for their clients to suit their needs. They make bowls, salt &
pepper mills, bottle stoppers, pens & pencils, kaleidoscopes, vases, key rings,
cutting boards, and believe it or not - wooden neckties! The exciting bit is
that not only are they coming to the Market on June 12 and 13, but they are going
to demonstrate the skill of
turning right at their tent. This is their first time coming to the Lupine Festival
so stop by and welcome them. If you'd like to know more, order some of their items,
or ask them to create something special for you, check out their website: www.arnoldandsonswoodworking.com.

White
Mountain Creations Bretton Woods, New Hampshire White
Mountain Creations was inspired by Debbie Robison's love of the nature and her
ability to capture the beauty and uniqueness of the North County in New Hampshire
and around New England from the grand vistas to the minute blossoms with my camera.
A former co-worker and friend, Janet Christenson, has an incredible gift with
words and it is she who is the creator of all the greeting cards. Not only does
she have this gift but she too has an eye for taking great photos. So together,
they enjoy capturing the uniqueness and beauty all around New England such as
finding a bear in the backyard, fox pups in a stonewall, a butterfly on the top
of a coneflower or a moose in the woods or in a wallow. Their website, www.WhiteMountainCreations.net,
is not only a gallery of photos but a chance to share their line of greeting cards
and the other products. On June 19-20, you can see these products at the Lupine
Festival Market. We are always happy to welcome another NH-Made member to the
market and are looking forward to their first participation in our Lupine Festival.

Bob
Bowen - Waterford, Michigan
My
cousin, Bob Bowen, will be back again for our Autumn Festival. I don't think we
could manage if he didn't come and do a lot of the work to make it happen. You
can often find him selling apples or coffee . . . but you really out to check
out some of his artwork. Below
you see one of his creations: Woodward Knights. This was commissioned
for the Harold Sullivan's Mopar Museum. Bob Bowen maybe a well-known automotive
artist but he's also a part of our Aldrich Family. Bob's mother, Ruby Aldrich,
was born and raised right here in Sugar Hill and Bob is Bert and Maxine's nephew.
Maybe you've seen some of his other work - this moose on the side of garage on
the Center District Road or if you have a copy of Harman's cookbook, take a look
at page 22 and you'll see his painting of our Sugar Hill home.
But
back to the Woodward Knights. This is a highly detailed painting
of a legendary street race between the Silver Bullet, a modified 1967 Plymouth
Belvedere GTX hardtop; and a 1968 Firebird that took place in during the 1970's.
The Silver Bullet wasn't just any Plymouth - he could race a quarter of mile in
less than 11 seconds at 132 mpg! Mr. Harold Sullivan owns the Silver Bullet and
still races it. If
you miss the autumn market, you can check out the website: www.silverbulletgtx.com.
Even if you aren't a "car" person, I don't think you'll be disappointed
if you take a minute to look at this poster - the detail is amazing and the way
Bob portrays the lighting is something I can't figure it.

 GrannyLady
Quilts Clawson, Michigan
Bob
Bowen has been having such fun at the Autumn Festival these past few years (even
if we do work him hard at them), that his sister, Barbara Lusk, wants to come
this year. She's setting up a tent and going to be selling quilts. She does beautiful
work and I'm not saying that just because she is my cousin. This year, the Sugar
Hill Historical Museum has an exhibit on quilts in the "Aldrich Families"
and you will see a couple of Barb's quilts in the exhibit (Like Bob, she's got
Aldrich blood in her esp. those stubborn genes). Stop by and welcome her to the
Autumn Market . . . maybe she'll start making it an annual tradition to join us
for it.
