Sheep
Shear Cuttings
- St. Johnsbury, Vermont

Back
in 1996, Carolyn Guest introduced us to the Polish folk art of Wycinanki.
Those were the days before we had our open-air markets (from 1996 to 1999); Carolyn
would come over with her sheep shears during the Lupine Festival and demonstrate
this folk art of paper cutting that she learned from her IFYE (International 4-H
Youth Exchange) experience in Poland in the 70's. We're happy that a few years
ago that she has returned to join the Festival Market (and the Festival Art Show).
Carolyn will be at the Festival both weekends, inside
the Sugar Hill Meetinghouse.
It is fascinating to
watch her take these shears designed for clipping sheep's wool and turn out the
artwork she does. She has cards, matted prints, and framed prints. She was honored
as a Vermont artisan and presented Laura Bush with a paper cutting for the White
House Christmas Tree in 2006.
Click on her www.sheepshearcuttings.com
to see or to order some of her beautiful cuttings. Also listen carefully when
you are on the website and you can hear her cutting! You can also e-mail Carolyn
as she enjoys doing special orders. We carry a selection of her cards in the store,
I'm partial to her Christmas cards. Carolyn does demonstrate
her craft, so stop by her booth to watch her make cuts that are so delicate with
shears that are used to cut the wool off of sheep. |

 Two
Sisters' Garlic
Canterbury, New Hampshire
Naomi
Scanlon brings you the benefits & enjoyment of her home-grown garlic year
round. Her "bulb-shaped" jars of garlic jelly are attractively packaged,
gift-giving ready. Available in 4 flavors: Simply Garlic, Rosemary Ginger Garlic,
Mint Garlic, and Red Pepper Garlic Jellies. Naomi will remind
you to not be afraid of using the garlic jellies. Use just a dab on almost anything
to "garlic" it up. Use it to baste, marinade, and as a stir-fry sauce
. Two Sisters' Garlic jellies make a quick, appealing, & tasty addition to
sandwiches, eggs, roasted meats, fish, & fowl; as well as a compliment to
crackers & cheese. The Garlic Shaker Blends are a special
mix of garlic, herbs, and spices that we use on or in just about anything: Garlic,
Garlic Pepper, and the very popular Blends (with our without salt). Harman's will
be carrying these shaker blends and of course, her jellies, all year round. Which
is good for you, because Naomi is unable to make it to our Lupine Festival Market
this year but told me to save her a spot for the Autumn market, so look for her
then. Two
Sisters' Garlic Days - September Watch for this
Event! E-mail
Naomi for more information about her products or future Garlic Days. Harman's
will be carrying her jellies all year round. |

 Julie
Nadeau - Fairfax, Vermont
Julie
Nadeau has been knitting and crocheting her colorful Afghans, Baby Blankets, and
Sweaters for Babies & Kids for Harman's to sell year round. She's known for
the unique hooded sweaters she makes with the zippers in the back like this one
her daughter is modeling. Her items make perfect baby and toddler gifts - or treat
yourself to a warm full-size Afghan to snuggle up in. Harman's
does have a nice selection of her products, but you can also
e-mail Julie directly to see if she has what you need or perhaps she can make
it for you. Julie's planning on bringing over her whole family for the weekend
of June 12-13; they want to see the Forever Locked Moose Exhibit. Julie will only
be at the Lupine Festival for that one weekend so you don't want to miss
her. |

Rugs
by Jerry - Lancaster, New Hampshire
Jerry
DeMoras hand-crochets these colorful rugs out of polypropylene cord. They are
machine washable and sturdy enough for indoor and outdoor use, almost indestructible.
Jerry also makes rugs to order so if you don't see the color combination you want,
look at the color selection and design your own rug and Jerry will crochet it
for you. He's also such a fast worker that if you order one week, it might be
finished by the next week. He and his wife, Roberta of RHD Candy, plan to be with
us for both weekends of the Market Festival. |

Wee
Woolies & Whatnots - Canaan, Vermont
Margaret
Knapp & Florence Howes have been joining our markets for few years now, coming
and demonstrating their fiber crafts. They enjoy sharing this art with all of
us and welcome all your questions. They also bring their home spun yarns, knitted
items, and hand woven products for you to take a bit of their work home with you.
Florence's daughter, Beth St. Onge, might also be with them demonstrating felting.
Margaret's husband also brings a few of his woodworking projects
with him: cribbage boards, marble games, and a few other unique products including
these unique lamps made out of antique meat grinders.
The marble games are quite popular in the store, especially the double marble
game because you can race with a friend! They
are both part of the North Country Spinners and Fiber Artists who demonstrated
their various skills at our markets. For more information, read about this group
on our demonstrations web page. You
can reach Margaret by
e-mail for more information on her yarns and finished products.
When you stop by their tent to say "hi", make sure you ask Florence
if you can see the yarn that she has made from her pet Cat's shedded hair. |

  Three
Acres Kitchen
Hopkinton, New Hampshire
Nancy Brown has been
popular at our markets with her delicious refried bean wrap sandwiches made with
her award-winning Balsamic Vinaigrette (she shares the recipe).
This Balsamic Vinaigrette makes even the simplest salad special. She also
uses this dressing to make a Balsamic Cranberry Goat Cheese, a sweet and
tart goat cheese delicious on crackers, as a sandwich spread, or crumbled over
salad. She will have both the dressing and goat cheese for sale, don't miss this!
She also gives out the recipe to make the delicious flavored goat cheese and I
can testify that it is not only easy to make but delicious! In
2008, she introduced: Blueberry Balsamic Glaze, use as a tangy and
sweet finishing glaze for meats and fish or as a dessert topping. Balsamic
Marinade for Beef and Lamb, a truly different marinade infused with juniper
and rosemary. She also was featured in Yankee magazine in 2009.
Visit her website for recipes and more information: www.threeacrekitchen.com
Look for her to be at the Festival Market on Saturday, June 12th. One day only,
mark your calendar to see her there.
