The 16th Annual
Fields of Lupine Festival may be over but our
Lupine are still blooming beautifully!

The On-Ramp at Exit 34C in Franconia Notch has a beautiful field of lupines. You can park up by Route 18 and take the bike path down to this field (just a few yards). As I was taking my pictures this morning (and wishing for a filter on my lens) the aerial tramway went through its morning check and the tram would stay still in one spot for several minutes but my camera just couldn't get that perfect photo of tram and lupines together.

If you look close at this center photo, you'll see a speck in the distance at tree top level - that's the tram going up.

Also if you stop, the strawberries are delicious!

I drove up to Peckett's Cross (Sugar Hill) and was a bit overwhelmed by the lupine there (above center and left photo). I'm not used to the lupine plant being eye level with me and those were. Most of the plants are at least 4 feet tall and some of them must be as tall as 5 feet! If you get a chance, take a drive up to see these titans of Sugar Hill. The lupines at Harman's Birdhouse are also blooming when you stop to visit us.
