Photo Courtesty of Mark Butterfield, Bretton Woods Canopy Tour

I awoke this morning to discover that the weatherman had been correct, it was snowing outside! Sugar Hill had about 2 inches before it stopped but Mark Butterfield took the above photo at Bretton Woods and they had about 5 inches - ski season is coming! Mark also let me know that the dual racing zipline at Bretton Woods is closed until December but the full Bretton Woods Canopy Tour continues through all of our seasons!!

While our trees are shedding their trees quickly, there is still quite a bit a color as you drive around our area as seen in the photos below. The tree is on the Meetinghouse lawn and the hill is behind the Meetinghouse. The haze in the photo below is the smoke from homes in the trees (it's cold so folks have turned their heat on).

More of October 13 - Yes, October!!

Bryan & Suzanne Flagg took a short hike up Mt. Hale. Looked more like winter than autumn!! Check out their newspaper's website: www.northcountrynewsnh.com. You'll find quite a bit of information there as well as current and back issues.

Carolyn Guest of Sheep Shear Cuttings came over today to share her artisan craft of Polish Paper Cutting with Sheep Shears. It was a treat for our customers visiting the store. She loaded the lilac tree with snowflakes, perhaps in anticipation of the snow forecast for tomorrow. For more information on her art, visit her website: Sheep Shear Cuttings

I heard on the radio the other day that we often are so enthralled with the autumn foliage in the trees that we forget to look at the ground cover that is also putting on a fantastic color show. This morning I stopped to look at the colors closer to the ground and took over 30 photos of this one scene by the river trying to get the perfect shot, though none of them reached perfection. As I drove away from the river, I thought to myself that I really should delete some of those 30 photos in case something more interesting came along . . . but I find deleting photos on the camera tedious so I didn't do it.

Sure enough around the corner, I came upon a cow moose with her yearlying calf. They posed so beautifully for me in front of a gorgeous tree but my memory card was full! I attempted to delete some photos and it took forever; long enough for the moose to decide to get down on her knees for a drink of water and for the calf to come even closer towards me trying to see what I was doing. I got so frustrated with my camera that I told the moose that she would of been more helpful if she had shown up before I filled my camera up with photos. She responded by deciding she had given me enough time (at least 5 minutes) and left! Animal photography is just not one of my strengths.

Sometimes I add photos to previous days, take a minute to look back . . .
